Vote For Brandon Plascencia

My Bio

Brandon Plascencia is a lifelong San Diegan, born and raised in the community he is proud to call home. Like many families in San Diego, Brandon worked hard to achieve the dream of homeownership, eventually purchasing his first home in Otay Mesa. Since becoming a homeowner, Brandon has dedicated himself to serving his community. He has volunteered with the Reed at Epoca community, including serving as its President, and currently serves as a board member of the Otay Mesa Planning Group, where he works to help shape the future of the community he calls home. Brandon has never considered himself a career politician. He is a neighbor, a homeowner, and a community advocate who believes that when something needs to be fixed, leaders have a responsibility to step up and find a solution. That belief has guided his work in the community. When residents raised concerns about broken streetlights along Caliente Avenue near San Ysidro High School, Brandon worked to get the issue addressed. The lights were repaired, helping provide safer conditions for students, families, and residents who rely on that corridor. Brandon also helped establish a security program through the Reed at Epoca board in response to concerns raised by residents. These efforts reflect Brandon’s approach to leadership: listen to the community, identify the problem, and work to deliver results. Brandon believes our schools deserve that same level of commitment and accountability. Parents and families should have confidence that their leaders are focused on what matters most—safe schools, strong academics, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and giving every student the opportunity to succeed. He isn’t running for office simply to hold a title. He is running because he believes our community deserves better—and because he is ready to do the work to make it happen.

My Key Issues

Academic Results

Our district needs to prioritize educational goals and look at reality. Our students are falling behind, and I am ready to help them catch up. I plan on establishing a free after-school tutoring program for all students. I also will push to get more instructional aides hired to help our overworked teachers. Poor performance is a warning signal that something is not right at the district, and I plan on fixing it once elected as a board member.
